After I bought the Evangelion 1.01 DVD and got the non-Ayanami Rei film strip, I did the unthinkable!…I enter the dark realm of japanese auctions and actually bid on one Ayanami Rei film strip!….Oh, the humanity!

There are many things I learnt over there. Japanese Otaku has TONS of money to spend. Imagine someone buying a film strip for over USD$2000.00 with Rei Ayanami smiling. The fever for her has decrease a little, but still, people pay around 500.00 for those, and sellers still put a USD$1000.00 price tag…I am not a RICH, JAPANESE Otaku, just an average one…with some spare change to spend….

So, I went over there and bid…8,000 japanese yen…hmm, I could do it….no one was bidding for that strip….ok, I bid….after two days of waiting for the auction to finish, some $&/$%&”* placed a 25,000 Japanese yen bid….reaching my bidding limit….I thought, ok, maybe someone will outbid me and I will get rid of my pain….

I WON the BID!….Maybe japanese bid a lot, but they know when to stop….so, thats my short story. Yeah, now I have two film strips, the EVA-01 and the REI AYANAMI film strip….I have no shame at all, but I hope my story will give you a second thought when you bid on something on an impulsive buy….

The curious thing about the Rei Ayanami film strip is that it almost glow with any light. There are many EVA film strips that you need a bright light to see the image, but I noticed that this film strip dont need almost any bright light at all….interesting….

Do I regret this? nah….I already have the cash to cancel my debt and I got Rei….Probably I will keep EVA-01 or sell it on an auction site….Do you think I should sell it or not?….probably time will tell….:)

p.s. If you dont know how much is 25,000 yen, I will let you do the research…it is very painfully easy!
