Live Action Anime: Some ramblings about it.

Recently I visited an interesting website called liveactionanime.org. The website has news about anime series that receives the live action treatment.

Take for example DRAGONBALL or EVANGELION. Dragon Ball has tons of episodes and has too many plotlines and characters that for my consideration, I think it cant be translated into a coherent movie, yet Hollywood IS PRODUCING IT as I write this lines. I saw the recent production stills and promotional posters and wonder…”why?”

I really think that there are “some” anime that does not need to be translated to the 3D world because of their complexity and looks or they are just too long to be executed into a live action movie.

Queen´s Blade: Expectations

I have been a fan of Queens Blade since I saw the figures made by MegaHouse. Glad I was when I heard an ANIME SERIES is in production.

There have been many questions since the release of this announcement and wonder what it is going to look like.  Here is the basic premise of Queens Blade:

In 4 years time the competition that will decide who the next Queen shall be will start. The strongest warrior will continue to rule the country according to tradition and expand it. The contestants need only be older than 12 years. They need not be human, intelligent or even of that country. The rules for the tournament are simple: murder is allowed. Any weapon can be chosen. The winner is decided when one of the participants flees or can’t move anymore. Such event is broadcasted trough a crystal sphere by the court’s magic teacher to all population to see and enjoy.

Now, Queens Blade is not famous for the story, but for the characters and their excessive fanservice. You took this girls and made them fight each other in order to claim the Queen´s throne.

What I expect from this series? Here is my list:

  • A good plot.
  • Lots of fanservice.
  • Great Character designs. (Books already have them)
  • Great fighting scenes (Thats what is all about right?)
  • Ecchi scenes, and more fanservice.

Most of the story seems to be centered on Reina, one of my favorite candidates for the throne. After all, Reina means Queen in spanish.  There are TONS of female characters and no male lead. At least I hope there should be some male character for the obligatory harem plotline, or some romance…Probably a King or something. Character designs are from the same people who made My-HIME, so I hope Sunrise is involved in the animation department.

Only time will tell if this series is going to be a success or an epic failure, but meanwhile, I shall continue buying some QB figures or enjoying the manga and the books.

In other news, I made a preorder for Echidna several months ago and the different stores have been changing the release of the figure three times already…(July, August and now September). I wonder whats going on. I cancel the preorder until they really release it.

What are your expectations about Queen´s Blade TV?

  • Fanservice, action, great seiyuus! It will rock big time! (78%, 207 Votes)
  • Not my type of anime, but I will give it a try. (9%, 25 Votes)
  • Skip it at ALL costs! (9%, 24 Votes)
  • I find it average! I will watch it because of the seiyuus only! (4%, 12 Votes)

Total Voters: 267
