Review: To Love-Ru game for the PSP
Before watching the OP of the game you will find a long prologue where you play as Rito Yūki. Haruna and Lala talks with you and everyone is planning a trip to the beach. It seems the whole game is a beach episode, a chance to see the main girls in bikinis and swimsuits. You will flirt with each of the girls, and depending on the decisions you take, well, you will have luck with one of them.
I left the series up to episode 4 so I am not sure about the timeline of the game with the anime series. Probably it is a side story because all the characters seems to appear here and new characters as well.
The thing I like about the game are their graphics. It is good and the characters has their anime voices. They blink their eyes, have different poses depending on the situation. The game also have mini games and depending on your wins, you will win a girl´s heart.
Here is a brief description about the mechanics of the game, according to play-asia:
You win the girl´s hearts by raising their level of awareness for you. Pay them compliments, depending on what you say, their expressions and the event scenes you will receive differs. Aside from paying the girls´ compliments, you have to avert slipping into traps. The trouble forecast will inform you when something is about to happen, act accordingly to be rewarded with special scenes. Collect the scenes and let them inspire your fantasies. You are allowed a time to fantasize about the girls and the level of boldness of these fantasies depends on how well you did in the game.
Like the anime, Expect tons of fanservice as usual.
The things I dont like too much for this game is the BGM music. The animated OP of the game is average. I prefer the OP of the anime. The OP song is fine with me, but I would have preferred another style perhaps. Prepare yourself for TONS of dialogue in japanese as usual for this kind of ADV games.
As I state in my previous post about this game, get it if you are a fan of the game, like ADV genres, understand japanese and have tons of free time to play it.
I saw the DS version gameplay (above video) and seems pretty fun as you can “interact” with the characters using the touchscreen of the DS. If you have anything to say about the DS version, I will like to hear your comments as well. Now I wonder if SONY will release a PSP with touchscreen!
