Review: Ikkitousen Eloquent Fist PSP game
I know you heard about Ikkitousen right? You know the anime series that features beautiful, deadly women with so little clothes to wear right? Well, the PSP game is here and I am playing it now as you read this lines.
Ikkitousen: Eloquent Fist is a fighter game that includes great amounts of fanservice, over 4000 animated cutscenes and is fully voiced. Combat mode features an action system which allow players to control their characters with ease and the graphics are high quality compared with the anime.
Fan service is in full throttle here. Rip the enemy`s clothes apart as you use killer attacks unto them. The game features all the characters from the Ikkitousen series and there are also original characters you can see only in the game. There are 17 fighters here so you have plenty to choose.
All characters seems to be rendered in 2D instead of 3D so you will feel inmerse in the Ikkitousen anime world.
The game package come in two editions. The regular and the Special edition. The Special Edition comes with special goodies.
1) Two PVC figures in a bowl
2) 2008-2009 desktop calendar
3) Holographic flick-action card featuring Kanu Unchou
Game comes in story and arcade mode. It also includes a gallery so when you finish the game or discover secret items, you will unlock those nice pictures. Game is in japanese so it will take a little bit to discover the good stuff. In story mode, you choose three teams and will unravel the story behind each of them. Warning said, you need to know japanese to enjoy the story mode.
The game seems interesting. At first I thought it was something like Bleach PSP games but Game mechanics is like lets say Double Dragon for example…it is a side scrolling game so you walk thru the different levels beating up the enemies. You can break some props in the levels to discover secret items and gain points as well.
On a negative side, the action can be very repetitive and tiring. I noticed that when you move the characters by side, it shows the correct animation, but if you go up or down, the character does not show the back or front sides… However, I think the extras that comes with this game and the character designs and fanservice makes it more attractive to buy. Also the gallery option has tons of photos to unlock and display so maybe thats an incentive. My recommendation: If you are a fan of Ikkitousen and want the extra bonuses you will enjoy this. Give the game a try at least to enjoy the graphics and the anime style…but dont expect too much after that.
