Evangelion 2.0: “Shikinami” Asuka Langley WHO??
Evangelion 2.0 is near and all speculations from fans are burning with hot fire. Gainax already changed some of the plot by adding an unknown character with huge eyeglasses called “Mari” and now Evangelion fans will have to deal with another change…Asuka´s name!
The Sohryu Asuka Langley We love and hate!
According with Dance of Eternity blog via Sankaku Complex, the original name “惣流・アスカ・ラングレー / Sohryu Asuka Langley” will be now “式波・アスカ・ラングレー / Shikinami Asuka Langley”
Now, this change is not a big deal but for hardcore fans, this could mean for some Blasphemy, others could take this as an attempt to bring some attention for the movie to boost ticket sales. Does this means a change in the character´s personality as well? Only way to tell is watching the movie after all but in my humble opinion, I prefer Sohryu Asuka Langley because the new name reminds me of Shikigami or Shinigami (Bleach anyone?)

I wouldn’t mind. At least she still has S.A.L. as her initials and isn’t “angry”, lmao. I also don’t mind the extra detail and/or cuts in the story. You wanna change names? Go ahead. Don’t some of us do anyway?
