Aya Ueto is CGI AstroBoy!
Astroboy the CGI Movie is scheduled for a U.S. Release pretty soon and Japan is doing their part to release their dub version as well…Aya Ueto was hired to portray the mythical hero!
Actress Aya Ueto appeared in a public recording event for the Japanese-dubbed version of the computer-generated animation “Astro Boy” on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
Directed by Hollywood filmmaker David Bowers, “Astro Boy” is based on the manga series by Japanese cartoonist Osamu Tezuka. Set in futuristic “Metro City,” where androids co-exist with humans, the film is about a boy who was reborn as the state-of-the-art android “Atom” after he died in an accident. The young robot boy, powered by the new “Blue Core” energy, gets involved in battles with enemies who are after his abilities and power source.
“It is such an honor that I have been appointed to dub the global hero,” said the 23-year-old actress. “I tried to speak clearly to make it easier for children to understand their hero.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Tenma, Atom’s father and a scientist who created him, will be dubbed by actor Koji Yakusho, 53. The animation film will hit cinemas across the nation on Saturday, Oct. 10.
