Japan Cars makes people happy!

It seems some cars are making their drivers very happy.

Japanese and German cars make their owners happy but French models drive them to distraction, a poll reveals today.

Five of the top ten cars in the Which? Car owners’ satisfaction table are Japanese – and four of the rest are from the family of German car giant Volkswagen – namely two Audis, a Skoda and a Porsche.

The only other ‘outsider’ to make the grade is the Fiat 500 super-mini, dubbed in one survey as the ’sexiest’ car on the road.

At the bottom of the table, six of the least popular ten cars are French –with two described as ‘rubbish’ by their owners. They include four Renaults, a Peugeot and a Citroen.

Leading the Japanese charge is the current Mazda MX-5 – in 3rd place with a satisfaction rating of 96 per cent. Also up there are two models of the Honda Jazz and the Toyota Yaris Verso (2000 – 2005).

Topping the table overall is the current Audi A5 with an owner satisfaction score of 97 per cent.

Bottom of the pile is the Renault Espace (1997-2003) with a 57 per cent rating and complaints that servicing is ‘expensive’. The Renault Megane (1996-2003) is described as ‘a pile of rubbish’.

More than 77,000 Which? members reported on how satisfied they had been with their cars over the previous 12 months, giving data on 84,119 vehicles up to eight years old.

Which? Car editor Richard Headland said: ‘It’s no surprise that owners love their Japanese cars.’

‘They’re reliable, reasonably priced and cheap to run. But down in the hall of shame, owners of some French cars seem to be less than enamoured with their motors”

One thing that got my attention from this news is that it is not the first time this kind of polls are made…and curiously, French receives low scores too.  I just hope things get better on next polls for them….
