Studio Ghibli announce their next project!
Studio Ghibli’s next project involves an story considered the oldest extant Japanese narrative and an early example of proto-science fiction. Certainly this is nothing new, but sure it is a good reminder.
Isao Takahata, Studio Ghibli co-founder and director (Grave of the Fireflies, Only Yesterday, My Neighbors The Yamadas) has made the very exciting announcement that he will be directing a new feature-length film. Takahata is the “other” half of Studio Ghibli, and one of Japan’s most famous anime directors. With this new film, Takahata will be breaking a 10-year hiatus (his last feature film, My Neighbors the Yamadas, was released in 1999).
His new film, Taketori Monogatari (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter), is a movie adaption of the classic 10th century folktale (also popularly known as Kaguya Hime no Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kaguya))
It has also been reported in the official Studio Ghibli blog that Hayao Miyazaki is in discussions with the studio staff to make two more feature-length films in the next 3 years!

Certainly it is good news for Studio Ghibli’s Miyazaki and Takahata fans!

The Asian Movie Pulse news article is misleading. The article implies that these are new announcements when it is paraphrasing (*without* attribution or citation) a piece of six-week-old news and a translation of a *nine-month-old* blog entry.

The staffers of Asian Movie Pulse now acknowledge this in their comments section.
Just as importantly, AMP misinterpeted some information. The official Studio Ghibli blog does not say that “Hayao Miyazaki is in discussions with studio staff to make two more feature-length films in the next 3 years.” It said that other people are making them. According to Nausicaa.net, “Miyazaki also announced the start of two feature films by young staff members.”

Thanks for the update. I already noticed that problem with the original source so I linked to the sources you mentioned…
