Against all odds, Kadokawa manages to sell their product..Do you think it is Haruhi’s charm, Kadokawa’s marketing monster machine or obsessive foolishness? I just cant find the right answer.

I’m not surprised that it’s selling. KyoAni has given collectors enough incentive to purchase with the special box, postcards, filmstrips, coasters, and special coasters. Then again, there are the people that actually like the arc for what it is like myself. One more point, just reminding that the artwork for this latest DVD is not the Yukata Yuki, but the depressed Yuki instead.

Yeah, I noticed it because the numbering is different and it is the V and VI…Thanks for pointing that out…
I think the Smiling Yuki looks better than a depressed one…

Relatively speaking, those are pretty poor sales figures for Haruhi. For the average series they would be quite good, but the first series sold around 40,000 per volume. Already 12,700 is a big drop from the first volume which sold over 20,000. As big as Haruhi is (or was), there are loyal fans and completists that will buy every volume, regardless of content. But Endless Eight has obviously had a negative effect on sales; one can’t blame a crappy economy when a series like Bakemonogatari has already sold 66,000 combined Blu-ray/DVD sales for the first volume.
