Hobby Search says: “No more ADULT goodies for you!”
If you are a customer of Hobby Search and always wanted that ADULT goodie, We have bad news for you…

With the start of Paypal service at HOBBY SEARCH, sales of adult goods are to be closed from November 4th, Japan time, onward. More specifically, some of PVC figures, Anime Toys and Magazines, and ALL of Eroges and Adult Mangas are to be deleted from our homepage. Waiting-list-mails and newsletter for those items are to be cancelled as well.
Please be assured that orders and pre-orders taken prior to that date are to be processed as they are, and note that Paypal will be added to our current payment methods, not standardized, so we will still accept credit cards as before. Also, please note that adult items, as well as non-adult ones, are to be displayed on the purchase record of the User Menu page.
We apologize deeply for all the inconveniences caused by this change.

I hope this does not become a general trend with other stores. We are adults you know…

I hope it doesn’t become a trend, especially knowing PayPal’s policies may do more harm than good in the long run.
What some other stores have done to “address” this issue is open a second parallel site without PayPal that only deals with the stuff that the main site can’t. That way they get the benefit of being able to process PayPal for most things without losing the sales of the other products. Not sure if that’s what they have planned, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Depends on if they figure it’s worth their while.
That makes a lot of sense and in the case of Hobby Search, would definitely work as they still have the third-party processor strictly for credit cards, but PayPal’s policies on allowed merchandise bother me on principle.
Wait so its Paypals fault that they dont offer adult stuff anymore?
Im actually really grateful for paypals existence since I dont own a creditcard and it iosnt as common over here as in other countries
Yup, PayPal doesn’t like its processing service to be used for buying “adult goods” which are defined as “relating to sales of items that are considered obscene and “certain sexually oriented materials or services” although they do make an obvious exception for ebay.
