AKB48 fan arrested for stealing their mail!

It seems some fans do some illegal things to know their idols better…

An obsessed fan of all-female pop act AKB48 has been arrested on suspicion of stealing mail sent to members of the group by having it fraudulently redirected to his Tokyo home.

Kota Shibuya, 28, unemployed, was quoted as saying, “I wanted to get my hands on anything that belonged to members of the group.”

Shibuya obtained the addresses of three members, including one here, and registered fraudulent mail transfer requests with post offices, police said.

He allegedly received about 20 items between October 2008 and June 2009.

Known for its dozens of members who perform dressed in school uniforms, AKB48 is made up mostly of teenagers and women in their 20s.
