Full Metal Panic FINAL light novel coming soon!
2010 is going to be remembered by many Full Metal Panic fans as the author revealed that He is writing the final full-length volume of the FMP light novels.

Author Shoji Gatoh revealed in a Tuesday blog entry that he is now writing the final full-length volume of his Full Metal Panic! high school action comedy light novels. He anticipates that it will be released this spring. Gatoh has not ruled out writing more Full Metal Panic! short stories; in fact, Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine will publish a new Full Metal Panic! short story, set during the characters’ second high school year, on January 20 to mark its 300th issue.

I just hope this is a sign for a fourth season or something…please!

There are more than enough published shorts to make a 13-episode comedy series, along the lines of “Fumoffu.” Hopefully, once the final novel is written, a final main-line anime can be created with as many episodes as required to do the story justice.

I hope that this get animated as well AND that for a change a story gets wrapped up neatly. And with neatly I mean both the story about Chidori’s (and others) power even though I have to admit it’s been so long ago that if they animate this I probably will need to rewatch the original series first, AND see Chidori and Sagara as a real couple finally (even though I feel kinda bad for Teresa Testarossa in that regard).
I could do well WITHOUT a series like Fomuffu as imho it was ****.

What do you mean Fumoffu is ****? It was one of the best comedy anime at the time. It should just be considered a spinoff and not part of the “real” story.

Well, I probably still carry a lot of resentment as I was massively dissapointed when instead of a genuine 2nd season they produced Fumoffu.
And while I like comedy, I find it disturbing / annoying to see characters I greatly cared for in one series suddenly behave so, so …. differently. Fomuffo obviously got hit with the dumb-down stick to attract a younger audience.
