Reuters bring us an interesting report about how Japanese receives 2010…

with cold water…and I mean REALLY cold water!

Participants splash ice-cold water on themselves during a winter season purification ceremony at Kanda Myojin shrine in Tokyo. Some 33 people, including several women, took part in the purification ceremony to wish for good fortune in the new year. They hope to purify their souls and sharpen their minds with ice baths….Personally, it is a fast way to catch a cold!

Brrr, I’m cold just thinking about that! Since I live in Southern California where it never snows and where I can have the AC on in my car in January, I can’t even imagine that kind of cold 0_o
