More Akira Live Action news!

It seems there are some good news for Akira fans…unless you hate Live Action Adaptations of course… Apparently, the movie will be directed by some famous brothers…and the movie is not going to be a single shot one…

Warner Bros. is negotiating to reteam with The Book of Eli’s Hughes brothers to have them direct a live-action remake of the cult favorite Akira, from a script by Iron Man scribes Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. (Akira is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s company, Appian Way, along with Andrew Lazar, who’s also currently producing an adaptation of DC Comics’ Jonah Hex for Warners.)

Respecting the source’s complexity (or perhaps acquiescing to it), Warners won’t proceed with a single, live-action remake of the film, which trimmed away the last half of the 2,182-page graphic novel in order to weigh in at just over two hours. Instead, we hear that the studio is planning to make Akira in two parts, with the first three volumes of the six-volume manga making up the first film, due out next year.

An official release from the studio is expected later this week.

I still have to watch The Book of Eli but at least, Akira will receive some justice by doing a two part movie of it…Lets just hope it does not plummet at the Box Office.

Avatar may sink Titanic!

It seems Avatar will be the highest grossing movie film ever and it is going to sink Titanic`s record real soon

This weekend, or a fifth straight weekend James Cameron’s Avatar controlled the box office setting another milestone as it moved past Star Wars into third place on the all-time domestic box office chart. Watch out The Dark Knight, you’re next.

The unstoppable force that is Avatar dropped a slim 18% from last weekend and brought in another $41.3, according to estimates, bringing its total to an other-worldly $491.7M. Internationally, the film has now made $1.1B, which is just a hop, skip and a jump from Titanic’s current record of $1.2B. Combined, the 3D sci-fi adventure flick has made an astounding $1.6B worldwide in only five weeks and the only question now is when it’ll beat Titanic, not if.

I saw Avatar on Opening Day but only on 2D…still need to watch it on 3D…Everyone keeps telling me it is cool to watch it on 3D…Do you agree? I was not too impressed with it. Sure the effects were great but the story was nothing new at all. It gave me that Ferngully feeling for some reason…But hey, that´s just my opinion…Avatar won two golden globes and it may collect tons of Oscars.

Space Battleship Yamato Live Action Trailer!

I just watched the trailer for the upcoming Space Battleship Yamato live action movie, thanks to our friends at Animerated and a tip from our fellow reader WatcherZero. At first, I thought NOT to post the trailer, but guess I found it very cool and hilarious in a certain way so I just felt tempted to post it…Here it is.

I found the effects very cool and the Yamato itself looks great. One thing that I found hilarious was the similarities between the captain of Yamato and the captain of another famous ship…Titanic

If Yamato ever find an iceberg on deep space, I dont think it will have any problems, thanks to its giant plasma cannon!
