Hello Kitty LCD TV!

Hello Kitty is everywhere! Not a surprise that the Kitty will be featured as an LCD TV…Unfortunately, it is only for Japan…for now!

Hello Kitty products can be found in an overabundance at times in Japan. It seems these days that any household product can be purchased with Kitty’s face on it. The introduction of the DY-133KT, a Hello Kitty LCD TV, on Dec. 11th truly adds to that list.

Technically, the DY-133KT is a 13.3-inch widescreen, high-vision LCD TV built by Dynaconnective Co. and licensed from Sanrio Co.   According to Dynaconnective, the TV has both digital and analog connections, as well as S-Video, D4-terminal (for Japanese TV accessories), headphone jacks, and PC connection inputs. The TV also has LCD backlighting capability.  If hooked up to a computer, the  Hello Kitty TV can double as a monitor with a 1,280 x 800 display.

The DY-133KT is constructed in the shape of Kitty’s head and comes with a ribbon-shaped remote control that features a “Kitty” button. That button, when pushed, causes the TV to briefly display Kitty’s full face, surely completing the Hello Kitty experience for fans.

Reportedly consuming up to 31 kWh/year, the Hello Kitty TV has been well-rated for energy efficiency.

The Hello Kitty TV does come with a bit of a price tag, Sanrio say it will begin being sold in country on Dec. 24th for ¥49,800, which is currently around $560 USD. Christmas shoppers in Japan do not have to worry though; preorders are being taken from Dec.12 to the 21st.

Sadly for international Kitty fans, the Hello Kitty TV is designed exclusively for a Japan audience. While the it does have PC connection capabilities, the menu interface is in Japanese and the hardware would likely require some altering to make it work properly as a TV abroad.

This TV sure is for hard core fans of Hello Kitty.  Probably I would be too distracted watching that kitty, instead of watching the TV programming.

You want cool sunglasses? You could get this ones…and they are even endorsed by the Japan Self-Defense Force!…The curious thing is that it seems this are even bulletproof…well, almost!

japan-self-defense-force-sunglasses-1

The Japan Self-Defense Force Sunglasses have been officially endorsed by the Japanese military and not only look super cool, but are ultra strong as well. The lens will not fracture even if struck at 171km/h (106mph) by a 6.55mm (0.3″) diameter object, nor do they shatter if a 500g shaft of iron is dropped on them from 1.27m! While they can’t quite withstand an actual speeding bullet you get the idea!

The Japan Self-Defense Force Sunglasses feature:

  • Size: 16 x 15 x 4cm (6.3 x 5.9 x 1.6″)
  • Lens thickness: 2mm (0.08″)
  • Weight: 27-35g
  • Frames made of TPR/TR90
  • Comes with glasses box with emblem of JSDF

Be prepared as this sunglasses costs around USD$317.00 dollars!!…Guess I will need to rob a bank with my bulletproof vest before getting this…

Japan Glasses can translate everything We talk!?

November 14, 2009 by Toonleap

I am amazed at Japanese Technology. The time for Universal Translators may begin with this little gadget! With the help of special glasses, people will be able to talk with ANYONE no matter the language They speak…

It’s the latest in eyewear for the linguistically challenged: Japanese computer-maker NEC has created a pair of glasses that double as a translator.

The Tele Scouter integrates spectacle frames with a personal mini-computer and a head-mounted display unit, allowing two or more people with no language in common to hold a conversation.

Conversations are, with the press of a button, recorded and sent to a remote server where they are analyzed and translated.

The server then sends the translation to the receiving user who can read the words in their own language on the display unit.

While the technology is still in its developmental stages, NEC says a faster unit is on the horizon and that the aim is to break down language barriers.

“With this you don’t have to think about having to translate your own words,” said NEC manager Kotaro Nagahama.

“All you have to do is speak and you don’t have to do any thinking. You just use your own language,” he told Reuters.

But Tele Scouter will not be cheap. When it reaches the market it will sell for around $83,000 although the price will come down over time.

If all goes according to plan, NEC says foreign tourists will one day, with great confidence be able to tell their hosts “I see what you’re saying.”

First are glasses…I wonder whats next! Can you imagine watching raw anime with this??? Well, maybe I am dreaming too much, but the idea is cool anyway!
