Death Note, It is not…It is a Death Pad!

I received an email from an animation student who created this interesting piece of work…and it seems He is a Death Note fan…or an iPad fan…

I am an animation student who made a short animated parody of the Death Note and the iPad, called “Death Pad.” Tagline: “Got someone you can’t stand? There’s an app for that!” So far it received 4 honors from YouTube (6th most popular and 19th most discussed first day and 47th most popular and 23rd most discussed second day) and got over 2,000 views in the first 3 days. (Launched Sat. Apr 3 concurrently
with iPad). It also garnered several favorable responses on the comments section.

A little background on me and the video: I have a degree in Film from University of Utah, and I am currently obtaining a 2nd degree in Animation from Utah Valley University. I am an avid anime and manga fan, and I addicted to Death Note. I first got the idea for Death Pad from the fact that L always uses a Mac in Death Note, and Light always uses a PC. It started as a student project for my Flash animation
class, and was supposed to be 20 seconds long. I continued to work on it in my spare time for another 3 1/3 months (6 mon. total) until it was complete, weighing in at 3 min 25 sec.

I did the animation in Adobe Flash CS4, and I edited it in Adobe Premiere CS4. I am currently working on an animated blooper reel for Death Pad to air on YouTube shortly. I’m a 32 year-old San Diego native who currently resides in Provo, UT. I have a wife and 20-month old son.

I’d love to have you run a short article on Death Pad. Please feel free to contact me at the email above if you have any questions. And please enjoy watching Death Pad on YouTube. Thanks!

The premise is funny, if you understand what “Death Note” about…The Character designs looks great and They look like their original counterparts. The voice acting is not a match against the original seiyuu, but They do a good job. If you want to see some good talent and have a laugh…That is if you are a Death Note / iPad fan, the video is worth a play.

Another anime falls into the claws of Hollywood CEO´s as they plan to turn cool 2D characters into…well, humans! Death Note is ready to receive the Live Action treatment.

Warner Bros. has acquired rights to turn the Japanese manga series “Death Note” into a live-action film. Studio has hired screenwriters Charley and Vlas Parlapanides to adapt.

Story centers on a college student who accidentally finds a misplaced “death note,” infusing him with the power to kill merely by writing anyone’s name on the page while picturing the person in his mind. The 13-volume manga is a bestseller in Japan, and the film will be drawn from the first three installments, written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata for Shueisha Inc.

Warner Bros. Pictures Japan made three Japanese-language “Death Note” films. The new pic will be drawn from the manga, not the previous movies. Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison will produce with Dan Lin’s Lin Pictures and Brian Witten. The scribes wrote “War of the Gods” for Relativity Media and “Live Bet” for Universal. ends

Now, I think it is probably a good news for anime fans because there is already a Death Note Live Action movie made by Japanese and it was a hit, so there is a good chance this will be good enough because there is a good story and with a bigger “Hollywood” budget, it SHOULD be awesome. The second thing is that WARNER Bros and not FOX is doing this.  If you ask what Fox has to do with this, just ask DragonBall fans. The defense rests!
