Haruhi movie: 12/18 release date on BD/DVD!

Thanks to our friends at AV Watch and Amazon Japan we can officially say that the Haruhi movie will be released on December 18th, 2010 on Blu-Ray and DVD!

The movie will be sold as either Limited or Regular Editions on Blu-Ray or DVD. Pricing goes as follows: LE BD: 9000 yen, RE BD: 8000 yen, LE DVD: 7600 yen, and RE DVD: 6600 yen.

The Limited Editions will contain a bonus disc (either BD or DVD depending on the version) that contains the following special features (150 minutes total):
1. Location Scouting footage
2. Background music recording footage
3. Dubbing recording footage
4. Stage greetings from the first day the movie was released to theatres
5. Making of clips for the Yasashii Boukyaku music video

They will also contain an explanation postcard, special illustration for the jacket, and finally a mini-size version of the pamphlet sold at the theatres. The BD version will also include a scenario collection of scenes that were cut from the movie.

Furthermore, the link above to Amazon will include a special steel book cover from one of the scenes in the movie. Right now it’s only 8000 yen (8400 yen with Japanese tax), so that’s not too bad for such a great package.

Playasia has not listed the movie yet. There are alternatives for store goods from places like Animate or Gamers, but those require a deputy or middleman service.

As of 8/26/2010, English Subtitles are not listed, but that could change as the listing changes.

A triple dose of Haruhi video news!

So today there were rumors going around about a possible listing on Amazon for the Haruhi movie. Well, put those rumors to rest!

I took an actual picture to show that it’s true and I didn’t alter a screen capture. The listing states the release date as 12/18/2010, but that date itself is unconfirmed. It’s a link to a page Amazon had made back in June for the Blu-Ray edition of the movie. The listing states that Amazon is giving away a limited “Nagato Steel Book” with the LE Blu-Ray edition of the movie.

Kadokawa also posted an announcement PV for the Taniguchi Goes! Special DVD out on 9/24.

Finally, HMV was kind enough to post the cover art for the Haruhi BD Box coming out in November!

Whoa! It’s been a hectic 16 hours for Haruhi video news. As soon as I hear a confirmation on the release date for the movie’s home version, it’ll be posted!
