Idolm@ster SP not playable on CFW PSP…yet!

If you are one of those people who have a CF PSP and got a “free” version of Idolm@sters SP, We have bad news for you: It is unplayable! Apparently, the producers of the game and Sony has included the 5.05 official firmware within the original game and basically, players needs that update in order to play the game.

The series of THE iDOLM@STER SP games (japanese), released today but leaked earlier, comes with a new and neat 5.05 update that is pretty much required for the game to run, or, at least, does not work on any existing CFW at the time. Spoofing the version through version.txt seemingly doesn’t work, either.

CFW users confirms “The IdolM@ster SP” does not boot on custom firmware 5.00 M33. It errors out with the following, “The game could not be started. (80020148).”

Furthermore, after doing a little research, it’s rumoured The Idolmaster SP will feature unlockable “PlayStation Home Rewards.” It’s likely 5.05 may accommodate that.

Idolm@sters for the PSP sold out on Opening day!

Idolm@sters is popular…at what point? Well, the PSP game is sold out on its release date!

Namco Bandai released the game on the PSP.  Dubbed THE iDOLM@STER SP, this one player game almost looks like a port of the arcade version with PSP-tweaked graphics. There is a new “mail check” system where players have to check the idol’s email from magazine writers, stylists and fans. Since Namco Bandai won’t be able to make a killing on DLC like it has with the Xbox 360, the company released three versions of the game with three characters spliced into each one. Maximum profits! The three versions (with characters) are:

• Haruka Amami
• Yayoi Takatsuki
• Makoto Kikuchi

THE iDOLM@STER Wondering Star
• Yukiho Hagiwara
• Iori Minase
• Ami and Mami Futami

Idolm@sters Ita-PSP!

Everything seems to be ready for the release of Idolmaster for the PSP! in a couple of days. Thanks to AkibaBlog, We can check not only the launch of the games but also special “ita” PSPs featuring the characters of the popular franchise.

They really looks as good as the “Rainbow” PSPs! Idolmaster for the PSP is expected for February 19th!
