Where have all the people Vanished to?!

Sorry for the late post, I was waiting for some information to become available to the public. Currently, the first week of the Haruhi movie’s run is over in Japan. According to this news site, the Haruhi movie has raked in 200,000,000 yen in one week’s worth of showings and has been seen by nearly 140,000 people in Japan. Keep in mind that only 24 theatres are showing this movie! The movie was ranked in the 6th/7th spot on the weekly rankings with only 2 days worth of showings, and it’s still going strong. With another busy weekend, the movie could actually increase its ranking for the second weekend. This is a huge hit in Japan and I’m starting to fear that a DVD/Blu-ray release is going to instantly sell out of stores.

That is the official Disappearence guidebook. If you’ve been shopping on Amazon Japan for books, you might have seen it. It’s only the highest selling book in Entertainment and is 14th overall in all of Japanese books on the site (with only 4 days being in the top 100, meaning it’s a huge spike in sales). I’m glad I pre-ordered it a couple days ago because I don’t know if/when I’ll get a copy. To sum this up, it is truly Haruhi mania in Japan right now. I wish I could be there to experience it.
Oh Sweet Oblivion, music news!

Lantis has finally released the full tracklisting of the theme song for the Vanishment/Disappearance movie about 8 hours ago. There will be four tracks (as is usual for the Haruhi theme music) and the first track is the title track (once again, as usual), but the rest is something new for the Haruhi series: variations on the title track.
Tracklisting:
1. Sweet Oblivion (Yasahi Bokyaku)
2. Sweet Oblivion -sonority-
3. Sweet Oblivion -sincerity-
4. Sweet Oblivion~Dreaming of One Day (Yasahi Bokyaku~Aru Nichi no Yume)
The original lyrics for this song were written by the original writer for the series: Nagaru Tanigawa and modified by the usual lyricist for the records: Aki Hata. The music was composed and arranged by the ever so wonderful Satoru Kousaki.
Now is the perfect time to inform everyone of a little spoiler about the Vanishment opening and ending. Vanishment opens with a reminder of where we’ve come from: the first opening of the series: “Bouken Desho Desho?” It ends with Sweet Oblivion being sung a capella (meaning voice only) by Minori Chihara. I’ve been debating which track on the single will be the a capella version, but my best guess would possibly be track 2. Tracks 1 and 2 have lyrics, composition, and original lyric credits while track 3 adds arrangement for Kousaki-san. Track 4 appears to be instrumental since it is only composed and arranged by Kousaki-san (who has been really busy lately). The only thing that will tell us which track is which is the one thing we dread most: time spent waiting. Sweet Oblivion can be bought from many online stores, and if you would like to sample the title track, click on the video to the right.
